Inside My Vegan Pantry

July 16, 2014 13 Comments

Many new vegans email me and ask what I keep in my vegan pantry, so I thought I should post some photos and details of the food that I keep on hand at all times. These are the foods, spices and baking items that I always have in my kitchen because I use them so often.

Building a vegan pantry takes time, money, and patience, so if you’re new to vegan eating, try to take things slow. It can be a bit overwhelming otherwise!

Costco’s Kirkland brand semi-sweet chocolate chips are vegan and use fair trade cacao. I forget how much they are, but really reasonably priced.

I’ve read some items, like flax seed and ground flax seed will go rancid so they are best kept in the freezer and other items need refrigerated (tahini?). Is this true or can everything be kept in a pantry because I am LOVING the jar idea!!

My tahini is refrigerated, but not flax seeds. We go through them super fast, so have never had an issue with spoiling.
